USIL students win scholarship for academic exchange at the University of Mannheim in Germany

The students Angela De la Cruz López and Diego Ninanya Velarde will carry out an academic exchange at the University of Mannheim, Germany during the 2019-02 semester thanks to their application for the renowned Baden-Württemberg scholarship.

For Angela De la Cruz, a student in the ninth cycle of the Economics and International Business Degree, the selection process was complex but satisfactory. In addition, she considers that what had the most impact on the jury was the content of her motivational letter focused on the pillars of our educational institution. “I highlighted the economic growth and development that Germany has as fundamental yearnings to learn. Likewise, carrying out projects based on social responsibility in accordance with the objectives of sustainable development is an objective that I have for this experience”, she emphasized.

On the other hand, Diego Ninanya, a student in the seventh cycle of the International Relations Degree with a double degree in International Business, commented that he hopes to be part of the debate group at the University of Mannheim, since they work with the international model of the United Nations . “In my motivational letter I mentioned that I could contribute to the club with a new perspective on the Latin American debate learned at USIL. This would help me as a practice for the area of ​​international debate”, he emphasized.

Our scholarship students participated in the USIL Academic Exchange Program and during the experience abroad they will be able to take specialized innovative courses over five months, with which they will be able to enrich their information baggage with the topics that the destination university will offer them“The courses offered by the University of Mannheim are of quality, from the perspective of an economics student, you are in awe. An example is the Female Labor Force course, which I consider very innovative, since it touches on topics that perhaps are not yet developed here,” said De la Cruz.

For her part, Ninanya believes that the Globalization pillar has been fundamental and represents a great contribution to her academic training. “This exchange will add a lot to my professional development. I plan to take career courses as European International Politics and what better place to take them than in Germany”, he stressed.

On the other hand, Angela De la Cruz mentioned: “When I return from this experience, I want to share the knowledge I have learned with my other colleagues. This will give them the opportunity to expand their minds and become more global citizens, which is one of the pillars of our university”.
It should be noted that our scholarship students will be USIL ambassadors during their student exchange. This, thanks to the constant effort and dedication that they have been giving throughout their university career.
