Are you fluent in a language other than Spanish? Are you interested in serving and helping others? Would you like to let the world know about the best Peru has to offer? Maybe you don’t know it yet, but you could join the USIL Ambassadors, a group of students from the university that work actively with delegations of international students that visit our campus in connection with the more than 190 strategic partnerships USIL has with foreign universities.
Accompaniment and assistance
The USIL Ambassadors group came about as an initiative of the Office of the Vice President of International Relations to create a cultural link between students who come to USIL from other countries and Peruvian students, as well as Peruvian culture in general. Among its main functions are accompanying and guiding international students during their stay in Peru, as well as at USIL. In addition, the Ambassadors organize cultural activities so that international students can experience Peruvian culture more intensely.
“Each ambassador is responsible for 2 or 3 international students. We help them with any questions they have about their life as college students, as well as about living in Peru and in Lima. We provide support in relation to any problems they have with their courses, their trips or cultural adaptation, since they’ve just arrived. There’s always a little culture shock,” explains Lucía Ocaña Baudoin, president of the USIL Ambassadors.
In short, the USIL Ambassadors organize cultural activities that enable international students to learn about Peruvian food and music, among other official activities (social responsibility events and volunteering) the Ambassadors hold as a club, to which all international students are invited.
